Dr. med. Thomas Henneberg

Dr. Thomas Henneberg was born in Unna, Westphalia, studied human medicine in Hamburg and Berlin, and has lived in Berlin since 1971. During his specialist training (at Klinikum Charlottenburg and Klinikum Steglitz of the FU Berlin) he gained extensive experience in surgery, surgical intensive care medicine, and internal emergency medicine. After completing his specialist training (as a physician for surgery), he spent many years as a senior physician leading surgical intensive care units (first at what is now the Helios Klinikum Emil von Behring, later at the Virchow Klinikum of Humboldt University Berlin). During this time, he earned the additional qualification and teaching authorization for special surgical intensive care medicine, as well as the European Diploma in Intensive Care, and, while at the Behring hospital, the emergency medical services qualification, with numerous deployments as an emergency physician. Since retiring in 2012, he has continued to work regularly in emergency medical services as an emergency physician at various locations in Brandenburg, as well as covering shifts in emergency rooms. He has since also earned the additional qualification in emergency medicine. In parallel, in line with his interest in primary care, he has continued the work with the private emergency medical service that he began in 2011, with occasional coverage in statutory on-call services in Lübben / Spreewald and at the KV Berlin emergency room (at the DRK Klinikum Mitte). He considers it a matter of course to keep his broad expertise up to date through literature study and continuing education. His hobbies are horseback riding, hiking, and gardening. He lives with his wife in Berlin and has one adult son. Language skills: fluent English and French, basic Italian.
